Mt Cotton Retreat

Twenty minutes' drive from Brisbane, a twenty-hectare private nature refuge known as Boom-Ber-Pee holds a handful of cabins and a small six-room lodge among the bushland. Koalas, wallabies and possums move through the trees, and the property records more than eighty bird species. Accommodation is split between individual pavilions, some set by a lake and others raised into the treetops, and rooms within the boutique building. The land is managed as a conservation refuge rather than manicured grounds, so the setting leans wild: eucalypt canopy, birdsong, and little intrusion from the surrounding suburbs. It suits guests after quiet and proximity to nature without a long journey from the city, and works for a single night or a longer stay.
